Keep Calm 

How many of you are reactionary? Before you fully assess a situation, you’re already reacting? I’ve been guilty of this too. Whether it’s over-analyzing or overthinking situations or not fully understanding a situation, flying off the handle is never good for you or anyone involved. There are times to get fired up and there are times we need to breathe. Learning to let the water roll off the duck’s back is challenging. But, in order to keep your mind happy, you need to learn how to stay calm. Eventually you’ll be able to remain calm in any situation.

Go, Travel, Plant Roots! 

Never feel stuck. You are not a tree. Although I think it’s important to plant roots eventually, you should be flexible. There’s so much to experience in life that if you get to be like my friend, you can look at a map, pick up and go.

How to Identify Toxic People 

We all have people in our lives that we like, but we also want to keep them at arms length. I’ve talk about these people before… the ones who seem to have a storm cloud over them at all times. These people aren’t necessarily the worst people we could keep in our lives, and we, as positive people may eventually have a positive impact on them, but there are some people that are just toxic. Toxic people suck and change your personal energy. These are some ways to identify toxic people.

How many of you read actual books anymore? If you’re like me, you spend most of your time trolling the Internet, reading articles of depressing current events or watching viral videos. We need a shift in how we’re using and exercising our minds. After your day to day, it’s easy to get lost in the interwebs, but it’s much better to get lost in a book. I remember loving to read, but somehow life took that away from me, and many of you. It’s time to get that sacred place of relaxation and imagination back

Why I Chose Not to Medicate My Depression 

I remember the feeling of standing in my dorm room at 19 years old and wanting to end my life. I didn’t have strong relationships with anyone and I felt worthless. I could be in a room of people and still feel alone. It was an awful feeling coupled with unbelievably high levels anxiety. I was either shaking or completely numb and still. I called the schools emergency hotline that day. Something inside me wasn’t ready to commit to the permanency of death. The school psychologist rushed over and sat with me until my parents flew down. It was an extremely embarrassing feeling, but clearly the angel on my right shoulder was winning the battle with darkness that day.

Badass Affirmations 

You are a badass. No, really! You are. You should tell yourself things like this every day. Don’t wait for someone else to validate how awesome you are. It’s about knowing your own self-worth and realizing your own potential. Sure, it’s nice when other people see that, but at the end of the day, you need to be your own cheerleader. Most of your self-confidence and drive should come from how you view yourself. What makes you badass? Are you a wiz at work? An adventure seeker? Really good at a hobby? You don’t need to be an army ranger or thrill seeker to be a badass.

Mind Over Matter 

Any time I was afraid of something or felt my body giving in to illness, I remember my mom saying, “mind of matter”. Unfortunately, that statement isn’t very true when it comes to getting sick. I mean, I’ve successfully held off vomiting a few times, but always succumbed to it not matter how hard I thought I wouldn’t let myself get sick. As far as conquering fears though, I think this is definitely true. It all comes back to the mind being incredibly powerful.

The Law of Attraction 

I’ve talked about the fakers and the doers in another blog. They are people that either talk a lot of game or they’re actually working hard and doing things. When it comes to achieving your goals, it’s important to set intentions by speaking and writing what you want. I’ve watched the documentary The Secret about a dozen times. The Secret addresses the law of attraction. What you put into the world, you get back. Your thoughts are vibrations and have the ability to attract the things, but if you don’t actively work for your goals, will you achieve them?
