Over the past year, I’ve watched so many friends jump into creative ventures. I love highlighting women doing awesome things, especially when what they’re doing is to serve others! We’re all here to help each other and when we speak from our own experience, we shine a light for others to find their way. I’m 34 with no kids, but so many friends are navigating motherhood now. When I can’t speak from experience, I try to connect everyone with someone who can. Personally, no matter the topic, I tend to gravitate toward those who keep it raw and real. When I saw that a girl I went to high school with started a podcast for moms, I knew it was going to be good. Why? Jersey girls have no filter and that’s what makes them awesome.

After a girl boss interview hiatus, I’m so excited for everyone to meet Jackie — host of Mom-Ease podcast. (You can watch Episode 3 – One Hell of a Mother below her interview)

Full name: Jacklyn “Jackie” DeLillo-Buczek
Hometown: South Plainfield, NJ (Currently living in Clifton, NJ)

Name of podcast: Mom-Ease
Type: For moms, by a mom just trying to survive motherhood!

Did you always want to be a podcast host/content creator?
Actually, no! I’m really shy actually and don’t like to speak in a large crowd, but something about the idea of being able to edit makes me feel better, lol. The truth is I went to school for biology and had plans of becoming a medical examiner, but life changed during college and I decided on adults with special needs and seniors with special needs which is what I did from my early twenties until recently when I had children.

When and why did you decide to start your podcast?
Mom-Ease was originally meant to be a brand of baby food not a podcast. However, making baby foods is not easy! There are a lot of rules and regulations and since I wanted mine to be refrigerated it was even more difficult!

Can you give us an overview of what a normal day is like for you and how you fit hosting a podcast into it?
Sure! We wake up (by “we” I mean my kids and husband, I don’t sleep, I’m a mom!) the kids eat, get dressed and start their day. Mikey is only 4 months so he eats, sleeps and poops. Tommy has indoor and outdoor play, lunch, classroom time where we do ABCs, he plays with paw patrol toys, has dinner, takes a bath then watches 1 hour of tv before bed. During that time I run around like a crazy lady and my husband is either working or doing whatever husbands do.

Looking at it as a brand, how would you describe it in 5 words or less?
Mom-Ease as a brand is meant to make life for moms easy. That’s it. Simple.

What was your biggest hurdle in starting a podcast?
Learning the different platforms and how to create something that an audience would actually want to listen to.

What type of feedback have you received from viewers? Tell us the good, the bad, and the ugly…
Most moms love it. I’m from Jersey so the attitude is definitely there! I have received a few ugly remarks, but it’s mostly about my appearance. “You look tired.” “You should wear more under eye makeup.” Some woman can be really nasty and try to be hurtful. I survived high school and now have a toddler though so hurting my feelings takes a real professional at this stage in the game.

Do you have future goals for the podcast?
I hope the future will bring more moms to my podcast. I’d love this to turn into a full time job for me. I am sponsored by a few brands which I’m extremely blessed for. I want to help moms realize that yes, you’re a mom and maybe a wife, but you’re also a woman and you are important!

What is one piece of advice for you have for other women who want to start become content creators and hosts?
Do it. Don’t second guess yourself. Don’t put it off. You’re important. Your dreams and goals are important. We as moms forget that.
