I’ve never been a huge fan of the term “meal replacement smoothie”. It’s not replacing anything because it is most definitely a meal. Calorically, if you’re doing it right, it’ll have enough ingredients and nutrients to keep you satiated and it may be more nutrition than you’re used to having for breakfast. It’s definitely a better breakfast than cereal or bars.
I wanted to share two of my favorite smoothie recipes with you! One uses vegan vanilla protein powder and the other uses chocolate. The common ingredient in the two is navel orange. I love oranges. Full of vitamin C, they’re great for the immune system and I love that the flavor works with both vanilla and chocolate.
Summer Sunshine Smoothie
In a blender, combine 1/2 frozen banana, 1/2 cup frozen mango, 1/2 navel orange, 1 cup coconut milk (or your favorite non-dairy milk), 2 tsp ginger, 1 TBSP turmeric, and 2 scoops vegan vanilla protein powder.
I used Arbonne’s vanilla protein which is certified vegan and non-gmo. Another wonderful protein is Ora Organic!
Chocolate Covered Orange Smoothie
In a blender, combine 1/2 frozen banana, 1/2 navel orange, 1 cup coconut milk (or your favorite non-dairy milk), 2 scoops vegan chocolate protein powder and a couple ice cubes.
I used Arbonne’s chocolate protein which is certified vegan and non-gmo. Another wonderful protein is Ora Organic!
What are some of your favorite smoothie ingredients? There are so many ways to make them, so it’s hard to get bored even if you’re having a smoothie a day. I always have fruit in my freezer for those “I need a meal quick” moments. A breakfast smoothie is also a go-to for summer mornings. Love a good smoothie and I hope you will too!
