Finding A Workout You Love
Finding A Workout You Love

Let’s face it, finding a workout you love to do and sticking with it is hard. I urge everyone to start slow and do something comfortable. If you love dancing, there are many dance workouts you can do either at home or in a gym. Also, don’t let one bad workout keep you from continuing your health and wellness journey. What do Imean? Ok, you tried running and hated it. Don’t stop your journey–just pick something else to try. I personally love to switch things up and find many different types or workouts enjoyable. Here are a list of workouts I love and why! If anything strikes your fancy, TRY IT. It never hurts to try.

Nikki’s List of Favorite Workouts

Spin (cycling)
Spin, in my opinion is the best HIIT (high intensity interval training) you can get! Biking is easy on the joints, but don’t let that fool you. One hour long class can torch up to 1000 calories. That’s pretty epic!

Whether you’re going to your local park, gym, or doing a DVD, bootcamp style workouts are great for full body conditioning. If you’re like me and like to get it all done in one sitting, then why not try a class that combines cardio, plyo, and bodyweight exercises? Plus the atmosphere can be super fun.

I rarely take dance at a studio, but I love my DVD collection of dance workouts. Sometimes I find that my best workouts are the ones that don’t feel like workouts. I’m so distracted by having a good time and shaking my booty that I don’t realize that I was just sweating for the past hour.

Ladies, before you freak out, let me say… LIFTING WILL NOT MAKE YOU BULKY. Trust me, unless your body is producing testosterone, weight lifting will make you look tight and defined. The key is to train a different section of the body every workout. Cardio will not give you definition, so if you want nice muscle tone, you have to pick up a weight every so often.
