I believe that the part of us that feels joy or sorrow is our soul and not our mind. Your mind can be happy or sad, but at some point, itâ€™s your soul or spirit that truly feels all the feelings. Connecting to your soul is as important as keeping your body and mind happy. Here are some exercises you can do to stay connected!
Ground Yourself in Nature
Personally, the best therapy for me has been nature. Iâ€™ve done the whole â€œcouch timeâ€ thing and while it helped me through a really dark time, now there is nothing that helps me ground myself more than stepping outside. Hiking not only helped me lose the majority of my weight, it allowed me to distress, think, and ground myself. Using nature as a grounding element is a form of meditation. You donâ€™t have to be still but itâ€™s best to be quiet. Listen to what is happening around you and listen to what is happening in your head and in your heart. LISTEN. That is what itâ€™s all about. The vibrations of the universe will ease your soul. If you have anxiety, instead of curling in a ball, take your shoes off and go stand in the grass. If you live by water, put your bare feet in earthâ€™s natural water. Your life, like the ocean, has high tides and low tides. Nature has such amazing healing properties if you open yourself up to them.
I believe in many things. I believe in God, nature, the universe, and energy forces… I believe that nothing is random and that everything and everyone is connected. You donâ€™t have to be religious to believe in something greater than you and me. Having a belief and a higher understanding of the world around me has helped me live life more fully. Feel a connection between you and the world around you. Believe in good karma and positive energy and your life will be more balanced and abundant. The Secret tells us, â€œIf you knew how powerful your mind was, youâ€™d never think another negative thought.â€ Open yourself up to the possibilities the world has to offer. Believe in something greater.
