LulaRoe: Simply Comfortable Style Guide

I am not a fashionista. Truthfully, I could live in yoga pants and band tshirts. When I was growing up, my friend Julia would always tell me my outfits were “garbage man chic”. My senior year of college, I made the decision to “try harder”. One of my bffs was a fashion major, so he was all about me “trying” a bit harder. I did pretty well. After a few months, he exclaimed “You know what… I don’t think I’ve seen you in sweatpants once this year..” I’m telling you, the struggle was real and still is.

I work in film and TV — notoriously casual industry. It’s so easy for me to slide into looking like a boy when I come to work. I wear red toms and grey keds like they’re going out of style. But, recently, I’ve been trying harder. Not for other people, but for myself. The results have been good. I feel better about myself, I’m in a better mood, and my closet, even still casual, is very chic. I’ve been revamping my wardrobe and looking at fashion bloggers for inspiration. A few months ago, I stumbled across LulaRoe and their styles have really helped me look feminine and put together, but also giving me that comfort and ease I enjoy in an outfit.

If you’ve noticed more #ootd posts from me on instagram, it’s not because I’m becoming a fashion blogger. Far from it, actually. It’s because my little style experiment has helped me feel beautiful every day, so I want to inspire other women who live life for comfort to maybe jump out of that comfort zone and get dolled up. Do it for you.

Carly Dress Inspiration

I have big boobs (sorry, not sorry), so I was a little concerned that the cut of this dress was going to make me look like I weigh 500lbs. I was pleasantly surprised that it draped perfectly! The first one I purchsed was the striped one in the middle. I bought and small and HATED where it hit me. Anyone that’s short knows that if you want to look shorter, just have a dress grace your mid-shin. The black and white stripes are considered a “unicorn print”, which means it’s hard to find. There was no way I was returning it, so I added a belt and VOILA! I’m not a munchkin any more. What I love most about Lula is that you can dress it up or down, as you can see from my stylings of the other two aztec prints. Boots or sneakers. Vest or Jacket. You can even throw a blazer and heels on and make it work. The Carly retails for $55, but there are so many discount groups and consultants that do Going out of Business sales that I’m sure you can find one for wholesale. I love the look of these three, but my favorite so far is this dusty rose Carly with a Sarah cardigan over it. Soft, feminine, with a romantic vibe.

The Sarah Duster (Cardigan) retails for $70, but again, a little hunting and you can find a sale.

Why do I love dresses? Have you ever noticed that whenever you wear a dress, people always compliment you for looking good? Like, you literally just threw a tent over your head and suddenly you look like a million bucks. No matching pieces. Just over the head and go! That’s why I love dresses. They’re the easiest way to look chic. Minimal effort… my favorite kind of effort.

Amelia… It has pockets!

I recently wore this Amelia dress to a wedding and it garnered many compliments. The Amelia dresses are elegant. They zip up the back, have a drop waist, full skirt… and pockets! HELLO. I find the cut very flattering and the material has good stretch. It’s comfortable, which is important for a night out. The Amelia dress retails for $65. (This print is a major unicorn. Good luck finding it.)

Unfortunately, I haven’t photographed me wearing the Nicole, Ana, or Julia yet, but they are also amazingly flattering. The Ana is a long, 3’4 sleeve maxi dress, the Nicole is the same shape but a midi, and the Julia is a pencil dress. Pictures to come soon.

Skirts, Skirts, Skirts!

I live for a flowy maxi skirt. LulaRoe’s maxi retails for $42, which, admittedly is a bit steep. However, they do have beautiful prints and the fit is perfect, even for a munchkin like me. They have a thick, fold over waist band which hides your monthly bloat (wink wink). Dress down with a tank or dress up with a blouse. (I’ve seen some girls wear it as a tube dress… haven’t attempted that yet.)

Want a fun, comfortable pencil skirt? The Cassie was made for you. It retails for $35. Has a thick waist band that you can either wear up or down to change the length of the skirt. The material is soft and stretchy, so you don’t feel restricted at all.

Also tucked in my closet is a Madison skirt… well, 3 of them. I’ll take pictures soon, I promise! The Madison sits on the waist, has a full a-line skirt, and is made of soft jersey material… oh, and it has pockets. Can’t forget about the pockets. It looks absolutely adorable with a tucked in, boyfriend tee. You shall soon see… so make sure to follow me on Instagram @NikkiNurtures for that!

The Lola and Lucy skirts are also elegant and beautiful. One short, one long. Typically lace or chiffon.

The Azure skirt is basically the midi version of the maxi. I have yet to try one… something about it makes it look like a kids skirt, but maybe that’s just me.

LulaRoe also has raglans, tunics and tshirts, and other cardigans. They are best known for their buttery soft leggings… I own many. Overall, I do love the clothes. I think they’re great for effortless, comfortable style for day or night. Pricing is a little expensive, but overall a good investment since you can mix and match.

Do you Roe? How many groups did you join on facebook? I’ve lost track. Have questions about fit or patterns? Leave a comment or shoot me an email.

I am not a consultant, just a fan of the brand.

I find the leggings have been a little too warm for me now in the summer, but I love my dresses! I am on the hunt for a perfect Nicole!

I only have 1 nicole. Royal blue. Haven’t worn it yet other than trying it on. There are some really great multi-consultant groups on Facebook that have TONS of choices. Hope you find one!

I resisted the lularoe craze at first but gave in when a very close friend had a party and became addicted. I now have over 2 dozen pair of leggings, 2 carlys, 2 nicoles, an irma, 4 or 5 classics, 3 perfects, 2 randys, a madison, a maxi, a julia, an azure and a cassie. I may be forgetting something. This is just in the past 4 months
I am in love with the dresses. a Carly with a belt and a denim vest is my favorite outfit

Addiction is definitely a good word for it! But, I’m finally dressing nice EVERYDAY because of it… so I think it’s a good addiction.

I do love the versatility of LulaRoe clothing. You’re so smart to add a belt to the Carly dress to make it flatter your size!

I have heard a lot about LULAROE but haven’t found where to buy. I heard you have to buy from a rep but not sure how to find one in my area. I love the looks though. Very stylish and comfy looking.

I think if you go to the website you can find reps in your area. I’m in about 1000 groups at this point, so if you’re looking for anything specific, let me know! They just came out with a Disney Collection. I’m sure you’d love it!

Yay! Thank you for reading and letting us know how to shop with you! I agree, the fact that it’s for all shapes and sizes is a huge plus for me. I love when companies use models of all sizes. It better represents how the clothes are going to look on their customers.
