Healthy Thanksgiving Options the Whole Family Will Love
Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday. My dad makes his yearly pilgrimage out west and I get to cook a feast for mine and my boyfriendâ€™s family. This year, we wanted to opt for something a little less traditional and more on the healthy side of things, so while I was coming up with my menu, I jotted down some other healthy Thanksgiving options the whole family will love.
The Most Effective Cardio
A lot of people think that to lose weight and get the body you want, you have to do cardio. True. Cardio will help you burn fat. BUT, overtraining cardio will also start to eat your muscle. Muscle is what keeps you tone and helps you burn fat when youâ€™re not working out, so too much cardio will give you the result of “skinny fat”. Iâ€™ve been there.

You need to look in the mirror and see your own successes and hard work. You need to look in the mirror and see and know that you are beautiful. You need to look in the mirror and know you are worth so much more than the people around you will ever know. Donâ€™t kill yourself for someone else.

Eat More Calories
One of the common misconceptions when losing weight is that you have to drastically cut your food intake to see results. Iâ€™ve been there too. I would eat below 1000 calories a day, essentially throwing my body into starvation mode. I now know that if you eat more you can lose more. WHAT, NIKKI?! Yes…. Fuel your body with MORE food and you will lose more. Of course, you still need to be moving that booty to burn calories or youâ€™ll gain weight, but you definitely donâ€™t have to starve yourself to get results any more!
Fruits and Veggies by the Cup Full
No one ever got fat from eating a piece of fruit. I often tell people that even if youâ€™re at your caloric intake for the day and you get hungry, go for an apple or crunchy veggies. Your body LOVES fruits and veggies. It wants them! They are packed with natural sugars and fiber, are easy to break down, and are way healthier than grabbing a processed snack like a power bar. Most are low in calories which means it wonâ€™t make you pop buttons if you have some extra servings. At the end of the day, they are whole foods and whole foods are what you should be putting in your body. So here are my rules about eating your fruits and veggies.
