I keep seeing adorable photos of women rocking stripes and florals together, so I wanted to try it for myself. I bought this floral vest a few months ago and when it got to me I wasn’t as in love with it in person, but I kept it any way. Today, I decided to give it a test drive over a black and grey pencil dress. I don’t hate it, but I’m not sure I love it. What do you think?
I guess it works. Maybe the floral needs to be more bold? Like I said, I definitely don’t hate it, but I’m not sold on the mixing of patterns. What sparked the style idea was a photo of a girl in a black and white striped LulaRoe Carly and a floral Sarah cardigan over it. The Sarah had bright pink roses with teal petals. She had the dress kinda tied up on the side with black wedged booties on. I never found that Sarah (super unicorn) but I did buy the Carly.
It was my first one and someone suggested that I get a small. Well, it was entirely too big. Too long. It basically looked like prison pajamas on me. I tried it with a belt and a jean jacket… it was okay looking.
I actually decided to part with this dress. It’s not worth having it tailored down to an XXS. My loss is your gain. You can shop this dress in my Poshmark! (Just click shop in the menu, then MY CLOSET)
The verdict is still out on the stripes and floral look. I’m not one to mix patterns, so I’ll just keep trying until I find a look I like that I can pull off.
I think the next time I wear this floral vest, it will be over a solid color. #basic #boring
What are your thoughts? Should the floral be busier? The stripes be big or small? Does the color mixing play a role in if the look works or not?!
