I made a promise to myself that this year, I would take the time to get dolled up more often. So far, I’ve been pretty good about it. I’m pretty particular about what I put on my skin, so typically, I opt for a fresh face with just mascara and lipgloss. Then, I found Arbonne who has ethical, vegan and naturally derived skincare, makeup, and nutritional products. I’m pro-not testing on animals. I also don’t eat land animals, so I try not to buy products that contain animal byproducts, either. I gave Arbonne cosmetics a shot and I LOVE them. I like to keep my makeup looks natural, so I bought what I know I’d use. This was my first attempt at a “look” and I dig it. So, I wanted to share what I used and some of my novice makeup tips. Let’s face it, I don’t normally wear makeup, so I’m not even going to pretend like I know what I’m doing.

I used 4 shades of eyeshadow to create a sunsetty ombre. Evenly made stripes and then blended them. (See, I told you my tips were novice, but, hey.. it worked!) I did two coats of “It’s a Long Story” mascara. BOOM!

Shades: dawn, solar, quartz, opal

I have a thin upper lip, so one of the hacks I keep coming across says to do a lip liner towards the outside of your lip to fake fullness. It’s not perfect, but I see where it’s going. Haha Personally, I either do a super bold red lip or a more neutral color, so I really love this combo for a natural lip look.

Lipstick: Magnolia, Lip liner: Peach

Since my esthetician sassed me over not wearing sunblock every day, SPF is the number one thing I look for in makeup these days. The foundation and setting powder have me covered with SPF 15! I did foundation and setting power all over, smiled to apply blush on my cheeks, and did bronzer on my temples and sweeped it below my cheek bones… with a little swoop across my forehead and chin. Again… novice tips but for those that don’t speak makeup, it may help you.

Foundation: fair, Powder: translucent, Bronzer: Glow On, Blush: Blossom

I had a lot of fun putting this blog together. I’m typically a natural, hippie type, but getting dolled up, even in a natural look is always nice!
