Am I happy all the time? No. But am I happy most of the time? Absolutely. You see, I choose to live my life with rose colored glasses on, a smile on my face, and an adventure ahead of me. I choose to believe that the hards stuff and the bad stuff exists to teach us lessons and that all the good we attract are our rewards from the universe.
Happiness is an inside job. You can not get true happiness from others, so you need to find it in yourself. I suggest you live life to the beat of your own drum and ignore the opinions of others. You only have one life to live. Live it.
Since spring is here and it’s a time of renewal, rebirth, and rejuvenation, I wanted to pick a book to fit the theme. I believe that finding your happiness, especially through the hard times, allows you to blossom and continue to grow. That’s why I chose Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project as April’s bookclub pick!
“Gretchen Rubin had an epiphany one rainy afternoon in the unlikeliest of places: a city bus. “The days are long, but the years are short,†she realized. “Time is passing, and I’m not focusing enough on the things that really matter.†In that moment, she decided to dedicate a year to her happiness project.
In this lively and compelling account—now updated with new material by the author—Rubin chronicles her adventures during the twelve months she spent test-driving the wisdom of the ages, current scientific research, and lessons from popular culture about how to be happier. Among other things, she found that novelty and challenge are powerful sources of happiness; that money can help buy happiness, when spent wisely; that outer order contributes to inner calm; and that the very smallest of changes can make the biggest difference.”
“An enlightening, laugh-aloud read.â€â€”Christian Science Monitor
Come on, get happy! If you feel like you’re struggling and you don’t have a smile on your face 90% of the time, this is the read for you! Spring into spring with a new outlook on life.
