I go through phases with working out. Sometimes I’m all about the hardcore, military style workouts that leave me shaking and sometimes I’m all peace, love, and yoga. However, I’ve found that if I don’t have access to a gym or feel like being around the Hollywood douchebags that go to them, having a home gym, keeps me motivated and on track. No matter the size of your home, there are items you can invest in that will help you transform your body.
When I moved back to Los Angeles this past July, I had a really hard time finding a building that would take my dog. He’s about 80lbs. When I found a building that didn’t have a weight limit for dogs, they didn’t have a one bedroom available the week I had to move… so a studio became home. It’s actually quite large, but I’m on the 2nd floor, so I’m very mindful of noise. There is not popping in Insanity and jumping up and down for an hour. A great perk of the community is an AMAZING gym, but I still like having my own equipment for home workouts.
So, I thought it would be fun to write a blog about creating a home gym for every living situation. Whether you’re in a studio apartment or a mansion, you can bring the gym to you… that means: NO MORE EXCUSES.
So, you may not have room for machines, but hat doesn’t mean you can’t tone and sculpt your body. I love these things because I can put on a movie, park in front of the TV and get a great workout!
If you have more space, try adding these larger items into your home gym. Great equipment and reasonably priced… especially that spin bike! They can cost and arm and a leg sometime…

Thinking about your space? Maybe you have a spare bedroom that you don’t use… I say, put a gym in there! Make it YOUR workout space. Design it so you’ll use it. What about a garage? My dad actually started building a small gym in his and it’s kind of amazing, so that’s another space that you can redo into a home gym. Infuse your life with health and fitness. Make it your own. Make it fun. And never step inside a crowded gym again.
