Passion Fire
Passion Fire

We all have a fire inside us that burns bright. That fire is your passion. For some of us, especially creative types, there are multiple fires each wanting your focus and attention. While have all these passions is amazing, it can often times leave us feeling exhausted and confused. If you ever wondered why creative people are so screwed up, now you know. We have a million voices, projects, and ideas in our brains all day and we never know where to start. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We just need to learn to focus on one thing at a time, come up with a plan, and find an outlet for all that energy.

Most of you know that during the day I am Nikki the producer. But at night and on the weekends, I am Nikki the health and wellness guide. I write and design, and continue learning about all the magical things mother earth has to offer us. These are two dueling parts of my passion and personality. When I’m producing, I am annoyingly detail oriented. People think I’m being facetious when I say I have a checklist for my checklists, but it’s the truth. Nothing will fall through the cracks on my watch. In the office, there is a formula for what I’m doing. It is a dance I know well. When I get home and it’s time to transition into Nikki hippie that wants to heal the world… life starts to get messy.

My fire burns for writing, art, building a brand, dreaming up a members area, and content on top of content. My brain is a whirlwind and it definitely manifests itself in panic. I give myself deadlines and organize what the most important things are but always feel like I could do more, faster, better… Some of this angst can be blamed on time constraints. I mean, I do work full time so I can’t expect to be able to do EVERYTHING. But honestly, I think that when we don’t feel like we have a clear path for our passions and don’t know how to get from point A to point B, that we just take a back seat and see what the world will throw at us. Don’t do this!

I started applying my producer Nikki work ethic to my creative Nikki life. Checklists by order of importance, which tasks require other people to help, and doing things one at a time. Finding that balance will keep that passion flame from engulfing your thoughts. You do have time, you do have a path… you just need to learn how to clear the brush and find it. Don’t let that feeling of being overwhelmed stifle your fire. Learn to dance with the fire and that frenzy of creative energy will be much more easy to handle.
